Cinderella

Hey there folks!  It's been awhile!  One busy summer with weddings, vacations, and lots of work at my day gig.  But now I'm trying to crank out some work and get the artistic muscles flexing' again this fall, So hopefully I'll be posting a lot more soon!

This is a piece I did based on the new 2015 live-action Cinderella movie.  I really enjoyed the film, especially the messages behind it.  "Have Courage and Be Kind" is such a great mantra, and something I think our society forgets to add value to.  But my favorite scene was when Ella is being called down to see the Prince.  She must reveal to him who she truly is, and the terrifying notion of being exposed and judged for who you really are.  That really struck a cord with me, and gave a nice emotional grounding to this fairy-tale.  Below is the narrator's quote and my illustration, as well as some ruff sketches.  Also full disclosure, I took some inspiration from a Mary Blair concept painting from the original Disney cartoon (which is also below) Enjoy!

"Would who she was really be enough?  There was no magic to help her this time.  This is perhaps the greatest risk any of us will ever take...to be seen as we truly are."

Assignment 3

For our third project we had to move the camera around...up, down, left, right, zoom, etc.  I thought Harry Potter's first broom ride would give me lots of fun shots to play with.

project 02

Second assignment from my story class.  We had to use Darth Vader, Elmo, the DMV and a chair....
